Introduction

Learning Goal & Objectives:

The student will develop knowledge and skills to improve communication abilities in Spanish speaking countries:

  1. The student will question the context of the problem by determining the needs, values, intentions, beliefs, and goals of those involved.

  2. The student will investigate valued ends by asking what is morally and/or ethically acceptable in this situation.

  3. The student will determine what means will accomplish the valued ends by conducting an inquiry into what policies or procedures must be followed or established in order to implement a culturally sensitive plan.

  4. The student will question possible consequences, how society would benefit, from these actions.

The student will make a judgment based on their questioning, about what should be done concerning this problem.

The Reasoning Process

I have used the practical reasoning process to discover the answers to my question.

So, what is the practical reasoning process?
It involves:
1)  An interpretation of information about the CONTEXT of the practical problem
2)  Formulating VALUED ENDS that are desirable to seek
3)  Information about possible MEANS to reach the valued ends
4)  Considering initial and subsequent CONSEQUENCES of actions
5)  Formulating a reasoned JUDGEMENT of what should be done in relation to a continuing concern

Inspiration

My inspiration for my project is my trip to Belize last year.  We went there to gain experience with ecology, and how to live an eco-friendly life. While being down there, there were people that could speak English, but mostly they all spoke Spanish.  I had a tough time talking to the people that couldn't speak English about our project.  Luckily, one boy could translate for us.  But it sparked an interest in me to be an ecologist and teach people around the earth how to live without being wasteful.

During my expedition in Belize, I took several pictures.  I used those pictures throughout these pages!
